FishingShrimp trawls

Ísfell is a leader in the design and installation of shrimp trawls. The trawls are developed from the best available material, designed in cooperation with the skipper and adjusted to the ship in question accordingly to engine size and the winches, which is according to the length and weight of the rockhopper chain. The shrimp trawls from Ísfell, are used in Newfoundland, in Icelandic waters, in Barents sea and on the coast of Norway by ships from Iceland, Russia, Germany, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Faroe Islands, and Canada.

In shrimp fishing, the minimum mesh size in the wing of the trawl is 45 mm and in the midsection, it is 36 mm. Ísfell offers “Ultra Cross” knotless Dyneema net from Net Systems, which has been great for shrimp trawls. For the belly, the mesh uses mostly 1,1 42-50 mm. The benefit of using this kind of netting is multifaceted, you can use a bigger gear and still save oil and make the net last longer. In other parts of the trawl, all material is from certified manufacturers which are known for quality.

Ísfell also offers small fish sorters for shrimp trawls that aid in sorting the small fish from the big. More information regarding the sorter can be accessed here.
