The trawls are suitable whether towing one trawl or two trawls at the same time. The most common netting used for Bacalao is regular PE, Compact PE and Dyneema. The biggest changes made to Bacalao over the past years is mainly in the choice of materials. New Compact netting has replaced the regular PE netting. This has made it possible to decrease the width of the trawl and decrease the resistance, making them easier and lighter to drag without affecting the breaking load and abrasion resistance of the trawl. Furthermore, the use of hydrodynamic balls and Dyneema rope has made use of Bacalao even better.
